Why I Love Emilia Clarke! And Why You’ll Love Her Too!

Written by: Michelle Lynn Tackett

I’m not the biggest fan of Game of Thrones, but I am a huge fan of Emilia Clarke, whose performance as the mother of dragons was complex, nuanced, and emotional. She was tough and compassionate with a bit of danger thrown in. The angel who plays her is a freaking sweetheart. Emilia has a bright and sunny personality with the talent to match that’s winning over non-GOT fans.

Her Adorable Personality

Emilia is winning hearts as fast as Sonic the Hedgehog running through rings. Is it her face-filling smile? Her adorable playfulness? Or her humility? All of the above is the right answer. When a sports mascot surprises Emilia and she blushes and gets embarrassed, you fall in love more with her.

Look At That Smile!

Her Strength!

Emilia has suffered two brain aneurysms and instead of letting this get her down. She enjoys life more and tries to be more positive! That is a great way to deal with a life-threatening event. Don’t let it get you down, appreciate life and live it to the fullest.

Emilia lost her dad shortly after she had her second brain aneurysm. This can knock anyone down, but not Emilia! She honors her father by being positive and taking care of her family and friends. That is a lesson we all can learn from.

She Is Humble

Emilia had a nice 4 million dollar home in Hollywood. It had all the typical trimmings your typical Hollywood home would have for a superstar actor. Emilia should’ve been happy in her new home, but she wasn’t. She sold her home and moved into a small apartment. She loves small places, so she can bake, take care of her dogs and spend time with family and friends.

Emilia gave up luxury for comfort and practicality. She also makes fun of herself showing that she has a good sense of humor about herself. She knows not to take herself too seriously, and have fun with her image.

Emilia The Happy Homemaker!

Conclusion

Do not let Game of Thrones turn you off of this warm ball of cuddliness and adorableness. If you like romantic movies try Last Christmas (with the illuminating Michelle Yeoh), and Me Before You. Both films show Emilia’s range and talent.

With the world going insane from hatred, fear, and ignorance. Emilia is a bright ray of sunshine to counter the craziness around us. We can let this change and ruin us, or we can be like Emilia. We can be better people and not let the bad stuff around us, bring us down. In a world full of Donald Trump, be an Emilia Clarke instead. She is an inspiration and sweetheart.

Favorite Movies of All Time Part 8

By Michelle Lynn Tackett

We are getting into the big guns now. I am on part 8 of my favorite movies of all time.

30: Kiki’s Delivery Service is one of Miyazaki’s best movies. Anyone who thinks Anime serializes all women needs to watch this charming classic. The humor is adorable, the characters will charm the pants off of you, and the story will melt your heart.

Rating: 4 Stars.

29: Alien/Aliens. Two of my favorite movies ever. Sigourney Weaver shines as Ellen Ripley, one of the greatest female heroines of all time. I like the second Alien movie better thanks to the heartwarming relationship between Ripley and Newt. One of the best mother/daughter relationships put in a movie.

4 Stars

28: Amelie. Audrey Tautou became a household name after this charmer became a worldwide hit. Amelie has a simple story, relatable characters, and an uplifting message. If you’re in a bad mood, watch Amelie. It will put a smile on your face.

4 Stars.

27: Terminator and Terminator 2. I love James Cameron movies. It was the original Terminator that put him on the map. Unique cinematography, fast-paced action, and great storytelling make both Terminator movies classics. They are often imitated but never duplicated.

Grade: 4 Stars

26: Wolf Children. A timeless Anime that will make you laugh and cry in a matter of seconds. One of the best brother and sister duos you’ll ever see in any movie. You feel their conflict and pain with each other. How protective they get and how much they ultimately care about each other. Give this movie a chance, you will love it.

Grade: 4 Stars

25: Rear Window. Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly own the screen in this Hitchcock classic. Everything from the directing, to the screenplay, is done with care, attention to detail, and crafted to perfection. The last ten minutes are so intense, and the characters are smart. That’s a nice change of pace.

Grade: 4 Stars

24: GoldFinger. My favorite James Bond movie is Goldfinger. Goldfinger is a classic that never ages. Great action that is there to tell a story, not just blow things up for no reason. The humor is witty, and the story is classic Bond. The third entry in the Bond series is still my favorite.

Grade: 4 Stars

23: Hidden Fortress. Akira Kurosawa’s classic that influenced Star Wars still holds up. Kurosawa put so much love in his movies, and it shows. Hidden Fortress is a great movie to start with if you are new to Kurosawa. Hidden Fortress has a simple story and is easy to follow. A classic that hasn’t aged.

Grade: 4 Stars

22: Gravity. An incredible sci-fi marvel. Sandra Bullock is incredible. She makes you feel for her character. The movie avoids cliches by focusing on her inner thoughts. Tight directing and gorgeous cinematography are icing on the cake.

Grade: 4 Stars

21: Frozen 1 and 2. I love Frozen 1 and 2 now. The songs are catchy, the characters are memorable, and the animation is breathtaking. You will fall in love with both movies. I like the second one better myself. I thought it had a better story, and the girl power theme was stronger in the second movie.

Grade: 4 Stars

Lady Bird Review: Is This A Modern Classic?

Ratings:

1 Star: I am in agony! Hellllllp!

2 Stars: Eh, it’s ok.

3 Stars: A good movie you will like.

4 Stars: A winner you shouldn’t miss!

When I watch a movie I don’t like, I am moody, and want to lash out at said movie for wasting my time. However, when I find a movie I love, I jump through the roof shouting. I want everyone to watch this wonderful experience I just saw. I love seeing great movies, and I love talking about them, so it’s with great pleasure that I’m rating Lady Bird, one of the top 5 movies I’ve seen this decade.

Characters

Christine “Ladybird” McPherson is a young teenager having trouble figuring out her life. Her relationship with her mom is tumultuous at times. Her mom does love her, but she is direct with her. Her dad is such a kind soul, her sister-in-law and brother think she is a pain, but that changes over the movie. One of my personal favorite characters is Julie. She is such a cutie with a big heart and personality to match. All of the characters in this movie are spectacular. They’re well developed, relatable and have a depth to them. Every character is relatable on some level, and that makes the joy and sadness all the more painful when we see it.

Story

The story is nothing new. A young girl trying to find her way through life, not knowing how she is gonna make it. What makes the story work is how lovingly it is told. The characters are not mocked, the story does evolve and have surprises. Some decisions that Lady Bird makes has real consequences in the story. The audience gets to experience how the story changes with every decision she makes. She goes for one guy, but then finds out something about him, then she changes who she is to try and fit in with the “cool” kids so she can try to get with the popular guy. The story could’ve fallen into cliches, but it doesn’t. It is a smart story, and I loved every scene, which made me want to savor every moment.

Directing

Remember this name, Greta Gerwig. She is going to be a star director! We have many male directors who are household names. Chris Nolan, James Cameron, Steven Spielberg, and Martin Scorsese to name a few, but we don’t have many females who are, and Greta will become one. She shows the Midwest in loving details, with splashes of green grass and gorgeous skies that sparkle with light and energy. She always keeps the focus on the characters and their point of view. This makes the story easy to follow, and the characters relatable. She got an Oscar nomination for her brilliant work, but if you ask me, she should’ve won. This was a perfectly directed movie. Not one shot didn’t belong, not a bad cut, or unwanted scene. She knows when to stop a scene and how to end it. Sheer perfection. I cannot wait to see what else she will make!

Screenplay

Greta also wrote the superb screenplay which avoids false sentimentality, instead, she gives us real emotions. The happiness and joy are earned by the characters. We don’t feel manipulated into feeling this way at all. The screenplay does a magnificent job of showing good and bad sides of each character. There is not a false note in the screenplay. Some jokes are uncomfortable, but you are supposed to feel that way. You don’t want Lady Bird to say the joke, but she does anyway. Why didn’t Gerwig win the best screenplay? She should’ve won for writing such a perfect screenplay.

Flaws

Not many. Maybe some characters should’ve gotten more screen time, and I do think some of the college scenes happen too quickly. That is all I can find. This is a near perfect movie experience. Anyone who loves good dramas, or coming of age stories need to watch this movie pronto!

Final Thoughts

Lady Bird should’ve won best picture in 2017. This is a one of a kind movie with wonderful characters, gorgeous directing, beautiful cinematography, big laughs, tears, a wonderful story about family and a perfect screenplay that makes everything work. You don’t see many movies like this anymore. Do yourself a favor, go to Amazon Prime Video, (it’s free on there), and go to your local offline or online store and buy it. You need to see this glorious movie at least once. You will thank me later.

Rating: 4 Stars! A grand slam! One of the best movies I’ve ever seen. You will see this on my top 100 movies of all time. Enjoy this marvel of a movie.

Is Millie Bobby Brown The Next Amy Adams?

We think she is and we will tell you why.

Sweet personality

Millie is being called America’s sweetheart, and for good reason. Her co-stars love her and she’s such a sweetheart to her fans. Her sweet personality shines through on screen, this makes her relatable to her fans and audiences in general.

Stranger Things

Stranger Things is watched by 16-18 million people a week on Netflix. That’s a huge number, that’s just as high as GOT and the Walking Dead.

Her Talent

Her sweet personality wouldn’t make her a star if she didn’t have talent. Look at Godzilla King of the Monsters. She stands tall with the monsters. She gives such a range of emotions, and does it with believability. Remember, she is only 15! For her to have this level of acting chops for someone at her age is almost unheard of. If she continues to expand and picks the right project, there’s no reason why she won’t be the next Amy Adams.

The future looks bright for Millie, if she sticks close to her family and avoid the pitfalls that so many young actors and actresses fall into, she will have a great career like Sandra Bullock, Julia Roberts or Maryl Streep. She is the star of the future. You can quote me on that.

Millie is a sweetheart!
